How do you make sure your ingredients have not been tested on animals?

For 40 years, The Body Shop has believed passionately that animals should not be used for cosmetic testing. We have never tested any of our ingredients or products on animals and we never will, and are regularly audited by Cruelty Free International through the Humane Cosmetics Standard (Leaping Bunny). This involves an annual review of all chemicals used in our products as well as regular auditing by the BUAV. Its effectiveness can be seen in our Values report 2011-13.

The Body Shop was instrumental in securing UK and European bans on animal testing for cosmetic purposes, and in June 2017, we launched our biggest campaign ever to ban cosmetics animal testing everywhere and forever!
